Some guys do a lot of sims. I do measurements in box, then import those into Xsim. More than once, I've gone "down the rabbit hole" in simming and tuning a crossover, thrown out all the sims and variations, and started from scratch. Hope this helps. Aug 17, 2016 · XSim. Install Link. This is a flexible crossover designer and allows you to draw your own schematic for limitless circuit arrangements. The downside is that it lacks the dispersion and acoustic offset calculations. Also, if you’re unfamiliar with typical crossover topologies, you’ll have no place to start. I’m looking at setting up either a Parallels Desktop or Boot Camp on my Mac, and was curious as to, with its (PCD) macros…, if it’s enough to have a system be able to run excel, or if it needs to support Windows XP or Vista, or? A speaker crossover is a technology used in audio production to optimize speaker system performance by sending each speaker only the frequencies it is designed to accurately reproduce. The function of a speaker crossover is to divide a full-range audio signal into its high, mid, and low frequency components and to distribute each frequency band. Do the same for the "ZMA Impedance File" and your created file. Close the small window, add a trace from the amp to the driver, then add a ground to both the amp and the driver, and you should see both your frequency response and impedance files show up on the graphs. Now you can build your crossover!. The "free-form" aspect of XSim is that crossover designs are unrestricted, no particular circuit structure need be used. The biggest issue with your current crossover design is the acoustic overlap of your drivers spans like 1.5 octaves. A ton of overlap will result in some nasty comb filtering. I spent some time with these drivers using the downloaded frd and zma files. The good news is that they are really easy to work with. Here is the crossover I came up with. Dec 26, 2019 · 18. How I would look at this is that the speaker forward axis is not the listening axis (straight ahead), if you go off-axis where the phase does line up (the speaker forward axis), you will now have a peak at the crossover frequency. Unfortunately, limits of Xsim prevent this sort of visual analysis. I'm not deaf, I'm just not listening. Nicholas_23.
